I am excited at getting ready for my next performance on Saturday, December 14...."The One-Five."  Practice Practice Practice!....Must keep putting myself out there and practice practice practice.  You only get better the more you practice.

I'm trying to figure out my set for the gig.  I think I will sing about 5-6 songs.  I am doing a mix of covers and originals.  I think 3 of them will be originals!  Woohoo!..  One mixing flamenco with a little pop.  The second is pop mixing Caribbean/Latin influences.  The third, I am writing it now.  It's a melody that came to me this summer.  It appears to be  pop/rock/reggae/ska type.  I know where is this all coming from?!..hehe...

Anyhow, I am now working on a new Latin song standard cover to possibly perform for a gig in February.  It's a song my father loved.  But for now, listen to this Haitian beauty named Emeline Michel.   She is singing her song "Mesi Lavi"...which translates to "Thank you Life."

She is living legend of Haitian music.   I sincerely thank my father for keeping music around, owning a music store sharing his love of Haitian and Latin music.  When I saw her name today, it looked vaguely familiar and then I saw a picture and I remembered her face on an album my father use to sell of her music.  Golly, I wish I could have appreciated all of what my father did when he was here.  Music is my connection to him.  He brought the love of music to me.  I had such a rich source of music from my Haitian and Latino background right in my father.  I guess he is feeding me his music vibes from the other world to make I sure I know that we are still connected.

Love you Daddy.
