It has been a tough year and half to say the least. This summer will forever known to me as the worst summer in my life. I will not elaborate. I am a great hostess. I smile and no one knows the wiser of the torments in my life. I am an entertainer. I am AVIANA. You are not meant to see the true lives behind the artist facade. It is what it is.
Two positive things coming up are 2 performances. I am performing at the Miami Bellydance Convention on August 31, 2012. I am happy for the opportunity. My costume designer and I have been going back and forth regarding the costume that we are making. I hope it turns out beautiful. I was in Florida last week and the week before. I was able to rehearse at a lovely little dance studio called Lotus Dance Studio in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The owner Alina was so nice and welcoming. I loved learning a bit more about her and the Florida Tribal Bellydance community. You should check her studio out.
I have just added a new performance on December 1, 2012 in Takoma Park, MD. I will be singing some songs with my guitarist. It will be a small intimate crowd. I am a bit nervous as I have not "really" sung in public in over a year. Yes I performed in May/June but that was different. :) More info on this recital soon!
I'm hoping to add another "dance" performance in the DC area in November/December 2012. So I'm looking for some opportunities, asking around, networking. :) Will hopefully give you more info on that soon.
This year/summer has been filled with UPs..mostly artistic ups....and downs....personal downs...
Anyhow, I wish this was a more happier posting but life throws you curveballs.
Cherish the ones you love, you never know when it will be the last time you see or speak to them. They can go in the middle of the night while sleeping. Easy as that... Cherish them and make sure they know it.
Have a good one.
Here's a song by legendary Haitian composer/guitarist Frantz Casseus, playing one of his pieces called Lullaby.
